Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has distanced himself from a GHS 6.7 million payment made to Smart In fraco Limited in December 2023.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the minister explained that the payment, flagged by the Auditor-General for lacking documentation, was made under his predecessor. He has since directed the Audit Service to verify the transaction.
“My fidelity is to the state, not to any company,” Sam George said, stressing that he would rely solely on audit verification before taking further action. The outcome of the audit will determine whether the matter is closed or investigated further.
